Usher Board Ministry

At Straightway MBC of Mojave, CA the Usher Board serves as a vital ministry that enhances the worship experience by creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive atmosphere for both members and visitors.

Purpose

The purpose of the Usher Board, like all auxiliaries, is to foster fellowship, harmony, and cooperation within the church through actions of love, prayer, blessings, and spiritual and financial support.

Role of the Usher President

The Usher President is a dedicated member of the congregation, chosen and trained to teach and assist in the organization and administration of the ushering ministry. This leader ensures that ushers are equipped to carry out their responsibilities effectively and in alignment with the church’s mission.

Responsibilities of Ushers

1. Welcoming and Greeting:

   • Extend a warm welcome to members and visitors as they arrive.
   • Provide directions and assistance, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and valued.

2. Seating Assistance:

   • Guide individuals to their seats efficiently and respectfully.
   • Ensure the sanctuary remains organized and accessible during the service.

3. Service Support:

   • Collect offerings and assist with the orderly distribution of communion elements.
   • Maintain order and reverence during the service, responding discreetly to any disruptions or emergencies.

4. Information and Assistance:

   • Provide information about the church, upcoming events, and available ministries.
   • Assist individuals in need, including the elderly, disabled, or parents with young children.

5. Sanctuary Preparation and Maintenance:

   • Prepare the sanctuary before the service, including organizing seating and distributing materials.
   • Clean and straighten the sanctuary after the service, ensuring it is ready for future use.

6. Additional Duties:

   • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the pastor or church leadership to support the church's mission.

Promoting Unity and Growth

Regular meetings are held to provide training, foster unity, and discuss strategies for improving the ushering ministry. These gatherings also serve as opportunities to magnify God’s kingdom and edify Jesus Christ and His church.
